Business Situation

In common with many organisations, our client had a business imperative to better manage corporate communications, knowledge and process across its disparate locations (~10), employees (~1,500) and processes. As part of this strategy they engaged slicedbread as their implementation partner.

Technical Situation

Having adopted a Microsoft centric applications strategy our client looked to leverage their investment in SharePoint across their business; both as a platform for knowledge sharing and process improvement.

The Solution

The first step in their SharePoint roll-out was the rapid roll-out of Team sites and document management across the group – centralising information and introducing document management. As the intranet use evolved so to did the functionality it offered including reporting and a partner extranet.

As the SharePoint estate grew, so did the support demands. With a relatively small internal team, this, too, was undertaken by the slicedbread team, leveraging a mixture of high touch on-site skills and offshore development skills delivered under flexible pay-as-you-go contract.

SharePoint Enabled Applications

Not just a place for information sharing and collaboration, our client exploited their intranet for the delivery of applications such as their Health and Safety system. Utilising SharePoints InfoPath, Workflow and library functionality applications were rapidly delivered to enable key business processes.
